Box Score Seton Hill hosted California in the PSAC Volleyball Championship match in the McKenna Center on Sunday afternoon. It was the first time Seton Hill has ever played in a conference championship match. The result was not the one all the fans wanted as the Vulcans swept the Griffins by a 3-0 score. SHU falls to 31-5.

Cassie Hausfeld ends a long rally with a tip kill to put SHU up 4-3. Another long rally ended with a
Shelby Kyllo kill and SHU led 6-3. Cal battled back to tie the set up at 8. Gahagen puts the Griffins back ahead 9-8. Cal rallied to take a 16-12 lead, forcing a SHU timeout. Kyllo ended the Vulcan run with a block, cutting the lead to 17-13. SHU went on a 3-0 run to cut the lead to 17-15. Gahagen ends another Cal run with a kill, cutting the lead to 21-17. California takes the first set by a score of 25-18.
Cal took an early 5-2 lead in the second set. A block from
Abigail Malsch and Gahagen cut the lead to 5-3. Cal then scored two straight forcing a SHU timeout. Gahagen gets a kill that trims the Vulcan lead to 10-4. The Griffins cut the lead back to 12-7. The Vulcans continued to build their lead and led 18-8. Field puts one over on two to cut the Vulcan lead to 21-11. SHU then used a 5-0 run to trim the lead to 22-16.
Emily Gilles knocked off one set point with a kill and a Vulcan hitting error ended another. Kyllo's block knocked another one off and SHU trailed 24-20. Cal then won the set with a kill to go up 2-0.
Cal started the third set off with a 3-2 lead. The Vulcans extended the lead to 8-4, forcing a Griffin timeout. SHU battles back to trim the lead to 11-9, forcing a Vulcan timeout. Field ended a Griffin run with a kill to cut the lead to 14-10. Cal then extended the lead to 18-11, forcing the Griffins to take their final timeout. SHU then ran off four straight to cut the lead to 18-15, forcing Cal to take their last timeout. Kyllo continued the run and SHU trailed 18-16. Cal then went on a 3-0 run of their own to lead 21-16. Kyllo ended the run with a kill. Hausfeld cut the Vulcan lead to 23-18. The Vulcans clinched the title with a 25-18 third set win.
Shelby Kyllo led the Griffins with 8 kills.
Cassie Hausfeld and
Corrine Gahagen each added 6 kills.
Lauren Teed led the Griffins with 18 digs.
Seton Hill will now await word on a NCAA Tournament bid. The
NCAA Division II selection show is at 10 PM on Sunday night.
