Seton Hill continues PSAC West play this weekend and looks to make it two in a row as they travel to Erie to take on Gannon in a noon kickoff.  Last season the Griffins lost 40-21 on the road at Gannon.  Gannon defeated Edinboro 52-7 last Thursday night.

The Griffins jumped out to a 30-2 lead over Clarion in route to a 30-16 victory last week.  Three TD passes from Dan Pietrangelo to FJ Williams keyed the victory.  Drew Jackson found Erie Brown for a 33 yard TD catch midway thru the first quarter that gave SHU a 6-2 lead.  Jesser Boulnemour's 21 yard FG extended the Griffins lead to 9-2 at the half.  Pietrangelo hit Williams for a 10 yard TD pass on the first possession of the second half for the Griffins.  Pietrangelo hit Williams from 30 yards out early in the fourth quarter to push the Griffins lead to 23-2.  A 2 yard TD catch from Williams closed out the scoring for the Griffins.  Clarion scored two late touchdowns to close out the scoring.  Willams had 6 catches in the contest for 66 yards and 3 TDs.  The 3 touchdowns tied a SHU single game record.  Pietrangelo was 13-20 for 124 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Brandon Stout rushed for 139 yards on 29 carries.

Seton Hill will take a break from PSAC West play this week as they travel to Elkins, WV to take on Davis & Elkins on Wednesday.  SHU will return home this weekend for two key PSAC West battles against Indiana and Clarion.  The Griffins defeated Davis & Elkins by a 3-0 score in Elkins last season.  The Griffins defeated IUP 3-2 in Indiana earlier this season and were swept 3-0 at Clarion.  SHU is currently in a tie for third place in the PSAC West with California with 12-3 records.  Clarion leads with a 14-1 mark while Gannon is second at 13-2.  Edinboro is two games behind the Griffins in fifth place with a 10-5 mark.  IUP is 5-10 in PSAC play.

Cassie Hausfeld led the Griffins with 11 kills in the WV Wesleyan win.  Corrine Gahagen and Shelby Kyllo each added 9 kills.  Gahagen was the only Griffin with double figure kills (14) in the loss at Gannon.  Hausfeld tied for match high honors with 18 kills in the win at Mercyhurst.  Gahagen added 14 kills and Abigail Malsch finished with 11.  Courtney Field had team high assists and Lauren Teed had the high number of digs in all three matches.

Seton Hill looks to keep its playoff hopes alive this week with two huge PSAC battles against the top two teams in the PSAC.  The Griffins will travel to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday before hosting West Chester on Saturday.  The Griffins tied East Stroudsburg 2-2 in Greensburg last season and lost 3-1 in West Chester.  SHU currently sits in 10th place in the PSAC, two spots out of a playoff spot.  The Griffins have 17 points.  Gannon is in 8th place with 21 points while Millersville has 18 points in 9th place.

SHU gave up a goal in the 15th minute in the 1-0 loss at Gannon.  Breanna Novosel gave SHU a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute against Mercyhurst.  The Lakers tied the score at one just before the halftime break.  Andrea Wisniewski scored the game winning goal in the 54th minute from Bri Kostain.  Allison Mello scored on a penalty kick to close out the scoring.

Men's Soccer (6-5-2, 3-3-1 PSAC)

The Griffins continue PSAC play this week as they travel to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday and host West Chester on Saturday.  SHU defeated West Chester 3-0 in Greensburg last season and lost at West Chester 2-0.  Seton Hill is currently in 7th place in the PSAC, one spot out of a playoff berth with 10 points.  Lock Haven and Slippery Rock are tied for fifth place with 12 points. 

Seton Hill and Gannon played to a 0-0 tie in Erie last week.  Cameron Evans made 2 saves in the tie.  SHU had two point blank shots in the first overtime period but the Gannon keeper made two saves.  Mercyhurst scored just 2:20 into the match last Saturday on a header.  The Griffins tied the score at 1 with a goal with about 15 minutes to play in the second half.  Rory McKinnon scored the goal from Joe Tchimou and Trevor Martz.  The Lakers scored the game winner with 3:34 to play in the second half.

Field Hockey (0-10, 0-8 PSAC)

The Griffins will be looking for their first victory of the season as they host Mercyhurst on Wednesday.  SHU will also travel to East Stroudsburg on Saturday.  SHU lost at home to East Stroudsburg 6-1 earlier in the season.  Emily Hutsko scored the lone Griffin goal in the loss.

Seton Hill lost a heartbreaking double overtime contest to Slippery Rock 2-1.  Alesha Herman scored 55 seconds into the second half off a feed from Dominique Cappello to give the Griffins the 1-0 lead.  The Rock tied the score at one with less than 15 minutes to play in the second half.  Neither team scored in the 15 minute first overtime period.  The Rock scored 3:28 into the second overtime period.  Alexandra Piekarz had 7 saves in cage.  SHU then lost 4-0 to #1 Millersville.  Jane Eberhardt recorded 15 saves in cage in the loss. 

Cross Country
Oct 26 at ECAC Division II Championships

The cross country teams will return to action this weekend when they take part in the ECAC Division II Championships at Mansfield on Sunday.

Women's Golf
Last week
5th at PSAC Championships

SHU was fifth after the first day of competition and finished the PSAC Championships in fifth after the second day of the tournament.  Seton Hill finished the two day event with a score of 660 after shooting a round of 331 on Sunday.   Emily Hassey and Courtney Newport each finished in a tie for ninth place, shooting a two day total of 163.  Each shot 81 on Saturday and 82 on Sunday.  Morgan Miller, the defending PSAC Individual Champion, who was tied for ninth after day one dropped into a tie for 20th place after shooting a round of 86 on Sunday for a two day total of 166.  Gabrielle Gutierrez improved 8 shots from her first round, shooting a round of 81 on Sunday.  Gutierrez tied for 22nd with a two day total of 170.  Ashley Ward rounded out the Griffins in the championship with a two day total of 175.  Lauren Smith of Kutztown took home medalist honors, shooting a two day total of 155.
