The Griffin football team ended its season on a high note following a 17-10 victory on the road at Cheyney on Saturday afternoon. The win gives head coach
Isaac Collins his first victory as a Griffin coach. It also ends a 23 game losing streak for the Griffin football program. SHU ends the season with a 1-10 record.
Seton Hill took the opening kickoff and went 57 yards in 15 plays to take a 3-0 lead on a 27 yard field goal from
Jesser Boulnemour. On the Griffins next possession,
Nick Halfhill was picked off and Cheyney returned the interception for a 37 yard touchdown to take a 7-3 lead with 6:13 to play in the first half. Cheyney fumbled the Griffins next punt and
Orlando Irby recovered the ball giving the Griffins great field position at the Cheyney 25 yard line. Halfhill then ran 15 yards to the Cheyney 9 yard line before finding
Jarvis McClam with a 9 yard TD pass to give SHU a 10-7 lead with 2:57 to play in the first half. Cheyney tied the score at 10 with a 27 yard field goal on the first play of the second quarter.
Neither team was able to score in the third quarter. The Griffins then took advantage of another Cheyney fumble on a punt in the fourth quarter.
Jordan Harper recovered a fumble at the Cheyney 15 yard line with 7:50 to play in the fourth quarter. Five plays later
Jarvis McClam scored from one yard out to give SHU a 17-10 lead with 5:59 left in the contest. Seton Hill was able to close out the game by running out the clock and securing the victory.
Nick Halfhill was 10-16 for 141 yards and 1 touchdown.
Jarvis McClam finished with 22 rushes for 86 yards and a TD. He also added 4 receptions and a touchdown.
