Daniel Day

Daniel Day returned to his alma mater as Head Coach and will begin his sixth season in 2024 after being a member of the school's first football team in 2005.

In his first season with the Griffins, the team finished with two PSAC West victories, the most since the 2016 season.  Two players earned All PSAC West honors.

In 2021, the Griffins finished with five victories, which tied for the second most in school history.  The Griffins had three players earn All PSAC West.  SHU also had two players earn All Region and All American honors.  During 2022,  the Griffins had four players named to the All PSAC West football teams including the defensive player of the year.  The Griffins added an All Region and All American selection.

Last season the Griffins had their best season in nearly ten years as the team won their final four contests to finish with a 6-5 overall record.  SHU was also 4-3 in PSAC West play for the first winning season in PSAC conference play in school history.  Day also became the winningest coach in school history with the sixth win of the season.  SHU had seven All Conference selections and again has the PSAC West defensive athlete of the year.

Dan Day was a three-year starter and four-year letter winner on the Seton Hill football team.  As a senior, he was team captain, helping the Griffins advance to the second round of the NCAA Playoffs for the first time in school history.  Day was also named the team's Most Valuable Lineman following his senior season.  After graduating from Seton Hill with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, Day spent two seasons on the Griffins staff as the offensive graduate assistant coach.  He earned his Master's Degree in Elementary Education while serving as a graduate assistant.

Day then coached at Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana where he held titles of Assistant Head Coach, Special Teams Coordinator, Offensive Line Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator before being named Head Coach in 2014.  At that point, he was the youngest head coach in Division II football.  He was the school's Head Coach for two seasons before the school closed after the 2016 football season.  Day helped lead the Pumas to back-to-back eight-win seasons for the second time in school history.

In 2017, Day served as the Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line coach at Benedictine University.  The offense produced the highest yardage output in school history under his leadership.

Most recently, Day was the head football coach at Warren Local High School in Vincent, Ohio where he led the program to its first win in two seasons and first Senior Day victory since 2012.
