Bill Monstrola will begin his third season as the Griffins head coach in 2017.
Monstrola's first season was a memorable one with the Griffins earning their first ever appearance in the NCAA Regional. The Griffins advanced to the NCAA Regional final against WV Wesleyan. SHU went 2-2 in that regional. The Griffins won an NCAA school record 33 games during his first season. He was also named PSAC West Coach of the Year following the 2015 season.
In his two seasons, the Griffins have had four All PSAC selections, four D2CCA All Region selection, two NFCA All Region selections, two D2CCA All American Honorable Mention selections and one CoSIDA Academic All American.
Monstrola brings over 10 years of collegiate coaching experience to Seton Hill. Monstrola comes to Seton Hill from the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg where he spent the last four seasons as head coach. Prior to being named head coach at Pitt-Greensburg, Monstrola was the interim head coach and an assistant coach with the Bobcats from 2008-2010. Bill was also a volunteer assistant coach with the Seton Hill softball program from 2005-2007.
In 2013, Monstrola led the Bobcats to the best season in school history, setting a new record for wins with 19. Pitt-Greensburg finished the season with an overall record of 19-18, earned a berth into the AMCC Tournament and had five players earn AMCC All-Conference honors.
Monstrola is a graduate of LaRoche College where he received his Bachelor's Degrees in Interdisciplinary Social Science and Natural Science.
